What's the real fishing season in Minnesota?

Larry:

What's the real fishing season in Minnesota? I mean when do the mass of people start and end their fishing?

I ask this because I find it humorous that in the weekends leading up to labor day, my favorite lakes are busy with boat traffic. The week after labor day, I've got it all to myself. Where did they all go? The water is still warm and the fish are still there.

Is that just my observation, or have you spotted a pattern too?

Thanks.

Hi Q,
It's easy; the kids go back to school and on sept 15 bow season opens.
Those of us that really like to fish and want to take advantage of the biggest and best of the year continue to fish. Those that follow the parade of camo into the woods are now out of the way!
Not to mention, during a season like this one, as in right now, a water skiier or jet-ski driver would freeze their butts off!!!
You might be interested to know that a few states have attempted to have no closed season for fishing. They found that without an official "opener" license sales dropped dramatically!
best,
L

That makes a lot of sense.

I didn't know that about the license sales. Very interesting commentary on human nature.
