hi sp,
You could use either med spinning or light baitcasting gear. For some reason, whether it's strain, latitude, water ph or whatever, the Fla pcocks don't get very big and as you may know, the huge, ripping pcock lures that do the job in the Amazon ain't the ticket.
I'd downsize my gear to half the power I'd use for Fla largemouth fishing. Topwater prop, zig zag and popping lures, minnow lures (both burn them straight and do super erratic zig zag snap retrieve) plus jigs.
Anything you catch largemouth on will work, but pcocks seem to like quicker retrieves.
Good luck,
L
